I saw this posted as a friend’s facebook status and I was able to finally get my head around the past 24 hours regarding Osama bin Laden. While events were unfolding last night, I was unsure of how I felt. While I was happy he was gone, I knew I couldn’t celebrate the fact that a person was dead. He is an evil monster, he killed thousands of people, but to me, to celebrate a person’s death would make me the same.
So while there are many out there who I am sure will disagree with me, I just feel that I can’t dance in the streets over a person’s death. It would put me on the same level as Osama bin Laden, and I know that I am not even remotely like him.

Some people just mindlessly jump into celebration because they remember how he killed so many innocent people.
It’s like an impulsive reaction and I personally think it does not make you eveil, because all you remember is my mother died, my child lost his father and those setiments can give you a strange sort of vigor to hate somebody.
However, once you think about it, it’s meaningless to celebrate his death, because he killed who ever he wanted to, whenever he wanted to. In case of Osama,, the killing he initiated continue. His legacy is forwarded by so, so many others like him.
I am from Pakistan, a country that suffers from this every single day.
We see people dying brutally by these bomb blasts that Osamas disciples arrange to create chaos. They kill people with absolutely no reason at all… one day you go shopping and boom!
One day you to the mosque for prayer and you go boom!
It’s not even sad anymore. They call themselves muslims and manipulate our religion. Why would a muslim guy kill another muslim guy, especially at a religious gathering. They’re such jerks.. We all want a rid from them. All the osama’s out there.
But if you look at it politically, these celebrations of Osamas death are going to get thing even worse as his followers are enraged by this.
Pakistan has already gotten 3 threats from 3 different militant groups that grief Osama’s death.
That’s why Luther Kings words also inspired this in me: Why should I kill my enemy? When I can’t justify being like him? He is my enemy because he cannot do what I can.
For now, its forgiveness.
